Customer account extensions
The account hub is built with Shopify’s customer account UI extensions, which means it lives inside Shopify’s new customer accounts rather than on a separate portal: shoppers sign in with Shopify’s one-time code, the tabs appear in Shopify’s own account navigation, and each tab reads the customer profile Ayra already maintains. The hub needs new customer accounts to be enabled on the store; stores on classic accounts keep loyalty and referrals working but do not see the tabs.
Each tab is a full-page extension target in the account navigation. Tabs appear only when their module is on and the merchant has enabled them in Account Hub → Tabs.

What the extensions need
Section titled “What the extensions need”- New customer accounts enabled in Shopify settings. Ayra’s setup screen checks this and links to the setting.
- No theme work. Extensions are deployed with the app; there is nothing to add in the theme editor.
- Data access. Extensions read customer state through Ayra’s authenticated extension endpoint, scoped to the signed-in customer. They never expose another customer’s data and do not read theme metafields.
- Branding. Extensions use Shopify’s customer account components and so follow the store’s checkout and accounts branding automatically; the only Ayra-controlled visuals are the tier badge and the reward icons.
Behaviour notes
Section titled “Behaviour notes”- Wallet redemptions in the hub convert points to Shopify store credit, which Shopify then shows at checkout natively on every plan. Redemption inside checkout itself is a separate, Plus-only extension; see Checkout extensions.
- Every action a customer takes in the hub (redeem, share, register) is a signal on their timeline with the source
account_hub. - Tabs are cached per customer for 60 seconds; a balance change from an order shows within that window.
