Loyalty & Rewards

Ayra Loyalty & Rewards is a Shopify loyalty program that runs on store credit, points and VIP tiers and reads the same customer profile as every other Ayra module. Rewards are issued and redeemed through Shopify's native store credit and discounts, so nothing depends on theme hacks.

What it does

• Earn rules for the moments that matter. Award points for orders, reviews, referrals, account signup and birthdays. Each rule is a toggle with its own value, so you can start with orders and add the rest later.
• Store credit as the default reward. Rewards are issued as Shopify store credit, which customers see in checkout and in their account without a code. Points, vouchers and percentage discounts stay available where you need them.
• VIP tiers with perks. Define tiers by spend or points, attach perks such as multipliers and early access, and let customers see their progress in the account hub.
• Redemption at checkout via Shopify Functions. Customers apply rewards inside Shopify checkout. Redemption runs as a Shopify Function, so it works with checkout extensibility and never touches checkout.liquid.
• Points expiry and reminders. Set an expiry window and let Ayra send reminders before points lapse. Reminders go through Journey Guard, so they never collide with another message.
• Earn and redeem at POS. Staff can look up a customer, award points and apply rewards from the POS UI extension. Online and in-store balances are one balance.
• Smart Wallet. One balance across points, store credit and vouchers, shown in the account hub and at checkout. Customers never have to work out which currency to use.

How it connects to other modules

Every module reads and writes the same customer profile, so these connections need no integration work.

• Referrals: A completed referral awards points to the referrer's wallet, because both modules write to the same profile.
• Reviews & UGC: A published review earns points on the same profile, so a reviewer's tier can move without a separate integration.
• Wishlist: When a VIP's wishlisted item is restocked, the engine can attach a loyalty bonus to the back-in-stock alert.

Built on Shopify

Shopify primitives used: Store credit, Discounts, Shopify Functions, Customer account UI extensions, POS UI extension, Metafields. Nothing is injected into the theme.

Replaces: Smile.io, LoyaltyLion, Rivo.

How it works day to day

A customer earns on the events you switch on (orders by default), the points land in the Smart Wallet on their profile, and the reward is issued as Shopify store credit that shows in checkout and in the account hub without a code. Redemption at checkout runs as a Shopify Function, so it works with checkout extensibility and never touches checkout.liquid. Reminders before points expire, tier moves and bonus grants all go through Journey Guard, so a loyalty message never lands on top of a referral nudge or a restock alert in the same window.

Three things to know before you configure it:

• Store credit is the default reward. It is Shopify’s own primitive, visible everywhere Shopify shows balances, and it survives an uninstall. Points are Ayra’s ledger; vouchers and percentage discounts remain available per rule.
• One balance. Points, store credit and vouchers are presented as one wallet to the customer. Underneath, each has its own ledger, so every change is reversible and audited. Refunds claw back automatically through Reward Shield.
• Tiers are optional. Start without them. When you add tiers, define them by spend or points, attach perks (multipliers, early access), and the account hub shows progress with no extra work.

Set up in brief

1. Turn the module on in Ayra → Modules.
2. Set the first earn rule (orders) and the reward type (store credit). Ten minutes, following the setup checklist.
3. Add the points block to the product page and the wallet tab to the account hub.
4. Verify with a test order: points on the wallet, one line on the timeline with the reason earn rule: orders.
5. Add tiers, expiry and POS once the basics are verified.

Migrating from another loyalty app

Points balances, tier membership, referral codes and earn history import from Smile.io, LoyaltyLion and Rivo; balances are reconciled before go-live and both apps can run in parallel. See Migrate from Smile.io for the full procedure, which the other loyalty guides follow.

FAQ

Does Ayra use Shopify store credit or its own points ledger?

Both. Points live in Ayra's ledger, and rewards are issued as Shopify store credit by default, so customers can spend them in checkout without a code.

Can customers redeem rewards in checkout?

Yes. Redemption runs as a Shopify Function inside checkout and works with checkout extensibility.

Does loyalty work at POS?

Yes. The POS UI extension lets staff look up a customer, award points and apply rewards, using the same balance as online.

Can I migrate from Smile.io, LoyaltyLion or Rivo?

Yes. Migration from any of them is free during private beta.

Do points expire?

Only if you turn expiry on. When you do, Ayra sends reminders before points lapse, subject to Journey Guard's frequency caps.
